Erica Newton Fessia has over 20 years of Human Resources experience working in mid-size to large companies, and currently holds the position of Director, Global Inclusion and Diversity at Qualcomm. In this role Ms. Fessia is responsible for the company’s worldwide inclusion and diversity initiatives as well as federal AAP compliance. Since joining Qualcomm in 1996, Ms. Fessia has held various leadership positions throughout Qualcomm including the lead HR business partner role on the executive staff of a $450 million division with over 1,100 employees.
In 2007, Ms. Fessia left Qualcomm to launch a non-profit organization, South Bay Children’s Museum to pursue her passion for creating memorable learning experiences in the areas of math, science and art for children in her community. The Museum continues its mission through support of other non-profit organizations across San Diego County.
Prior to rejoining Qualcomm in 2014, Ms. Fessia operated a consulting practice specializing in serving small to mid-size companies that have little to no internal HR support. Fessia Consulting was focused on helping companies navigate through compliance issues in order to focus on establishing best practices to attract and retain their employees.
Ms. Fessia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC, San Diego. She currently serves as the HR Committee Chair for the Board of Directors of the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank. She is a graduate of LEAD San Diego and served on the Alumni Association Council for that organization. She is also a graduate of the City of Chula Vista Leadership Academy and served on the City of Chula Vista Cultural Arts Commission.
