Dr. Wanda Nitsch, President and Chief Academic Officer of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, has been a physical therapist for 30+ years graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. In 1997, she completed her Manual Therapy Certification and in 2000, her Masters of Science in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. With a strong interest in administration, Wanda completed her PhD in Education with a specialization in Higher Education Leadership from Capella University.
Over the last 19 years with the University, Dr. Nitsch has taught in the areas of musculoskeletal physical assessment, therapeutic exercise, and clinical reasoning. She has participated in and led many growth and quality improvement initiatives, such as the development of several of the University’s degree programs and initiating the campuses in San Marcos, CA, Austin, TX and Miami, FL.
Dr. Nitsch has previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, Department of Physical Therapy. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, past chair of the Academic Faculty Special Interest group and served on the Board of Directors for the Education Section. Dr. Nitsch has extensive experience in in accreditation, working as a commissioner with two accrediting agencies and serving multiple times as chair and education specialist on accreditation site visits. Her area of expertise is outcome assessment, distance education administration, and institutional research.
